Goldsmith¹s Ski Rental and Boardhouse, A family run and operated business, was started in 1987 by Fred and Linda Goldsmith. Fred was the Area Manager at Snow Summit and Ski Instructor to the stars for 20+ years. The Goldsmith family has been in Big Bear working, Skiing, Snowboarding, and Selling Real Estate since 1948.

Goldsmiths was the FIRST Shop in town and one of the first in Southern California to carry snowboards and support the sport. Around 1988 Tom Sims (of Sims Snowboards) was a home owner in Big Bear and introduced snowboarding to a hand full of local kids, one of the lucky few was Danielle Goldsmith. At the time, Snowboarding was an outlaw sport which was frowned upon at the local areas. In the following years Snowboarding began to take off and gain acceptance led by a handful of local kids who were fanatically involved in the sport.

Danielle Goldsmith (Fred and Linda¹s daughter) and her friends eventually gained acceptance at the local areas and were hired as snowboard instructors and patrollers at Snow Summit. Danielle was soon sponsored by Sims Snowboards, and competed nationally and internationally for the coming years. Danielle graduated high school, finished the Snowboarding Tour (receiving Top amateur in the World) then started Goldsmith¹s Boardhouse, a high-end snowboard retail outlet out of her parents store. In the following years Goldsmith¹s Boardhouse and Ski Rental integrated to become a family run Shop with the best Brands and Service in Town.
